The Sonik Tournos 8000 was a hugely successful carp reel but some anglers who regularly tackle the largest waters the UK has to offer – as well as those anglers who like to frequent the continental venues – were asking for ‘the same but bigger’. Sonik delivered and this Tournos 10000 offers a larger body with greater winding power and increased casting ability – exactly was the serious big fish casing carp anglers were after!
The increase in size begins with the spool and the Sonik Tournos 10000 is fitted with a 48mm coned spool. This huge spool offers an incredible retrievable power which perfectly complements its incredible distance casting ability. Fitted with an angled spool lip to further increase the casting distance, as well as reduce the risk of bird’s nest tangles, this reel will let you reach the furthest distances that you require with ease. The Tournos 10000 is also fitted with worm drive oscillation. This ensures that you’re able to achieve perfect line lay, giving you those few vital additional meters on your cast. The rotor-lock bail arm ensures that you are never at risk of the bail arm snapping shut mid-cast – as used to happen on older distance casting reels. To top off the reels casting ability the Tournos 10000 is able to offer a powerful disc drag, too, making this a dream all round casting reel.
The rapid drag system enables you to switch from freespool mode to fight mode in mere moments – just over half a turn – ensuring your get a solid hookset. The reel’s chunk handle ensures that you can get a solid grip when winding in the hardest fighting of fish. The wind in will be smoother than silk thanks to the prescience of eight plus one shielded stainless steel bearings. These bearings also ensure that this reel can perform to its best ability throughout its incredible life. The Tournos 10000 is supplied with two spools a standard – one deep spool for all your distance casting work, as well as a medium spool for any nearer work or for tackling slightly smaller waters.
