A-RC spools are oversized and are both longer and of a greater diameter than traditional spools, making them ideal for creating big pit reels. With a tapered profile, A-RC spools also feature a unique angled spool lip. This spool lip reduces the friction on the line as it flies off the spool, allowing it to maintain momentum and reach greater distances. It also ensures the line leaves the spool in tight coils to reduce the risk of backlash or wind knots.
When it comes to the retrieve this reel is just as powerful, meaning that you can tackle those monster carp with ease. Shimano’s excellent X-Ship technology gets to stretch its legs on this reel. X-Ship places the pinion gear close to the centre of the main drive gear, ensuring maximum power is transferred between the handle and the gearing. This is aided by Hypergear technology, which aids the transfer of power between the handle and the rotor to ensure minimum effort creates maximum cranking power. The Speedcast XT-B has an epic retrieve rate of 103cm line per handle turn, thanks to its 4.3:1 gearing.
