Available in sizes 6, 10, 12, and 14, the B175 hook from Kamasan is the ultimate heavy trout hook for fly fishing. Sold in packets of 25, this is a heavy weighted hook that features Kamasan’s trademark chemically sharpened needle point. Kamasan was the first company to sharpen its hook using a chemical sharpening technique, which is now the technique used by all major hook manufacturers across the globe. The company was the first to be able to mass produce incredibly sharp hooks to suit all anglers, many of whom were tired of buying hooks only to have to file them to ensure their sharpness.
The sproat bend on this hook makes it ideal for use with wet flies and nymphs, as it adds shape to the fly and strength to point. This is a barbed hook with a high carbon content and a bronzed finished. The eye is angled downwards and this is a heavy wired hook, helping the fly get deeper quicker – making it ideal for trout fishing.
The Kamasan hook brand is the brain child of Peter Drennan, of Drennan International, and as such the brand brings with it all the pedigree of its prestigious parent company. Kamasan has been producing hooks for over 30 years and more than two generations of anglers have sworn by the brand as the best out there. Designed with UK anglers in mind, you’ll struggle to find a British angler who hasn’t used a Kamasan hook to great effect at one point or another in their angling career.
The hook is perhaps the most important bit of terminal tackle in your tackle box, as it is the first bit of kit that comes into direct contact with the fish, and as such it is important to use quality equipment. This Kamasan B175 hook is a top class hook that shows real results on the bank.
