Daiwa’s Windcast series is famous for its fast distance casting reels that suit across the disciplines. The Windcast Z reel is just one of the reels in this exceptional Windcast series and, although it shares a spool taper with the other reels in the series, it features some incredible additional features which really place this reel head and shoulders above the competition.
With eight smooth running ball bearings, which have been especially designed to be resistant to corrosion, this reel is highly durable and creates very little friction when in use. This reel also features a QD (quick drag) function, which enables those anglers who target big fish to engage drag with less than one turn of the drag knob.
The Windcast Z 5500, like the other reels in the Windcast range, comes fitted with a HIP (high impact) clip and a built-in cushion on the pin provides a line location that is both secure and forgiving – allowing you to cast on the button each time. Air Bail, Daiwa’s innovative tubular stainless steel bail, gives incredible rigidity without impacting on the weight of the reel. This means that even a loose line can slide easily down the bail to the roller without snagging or hooking up. This Air Bail system, as well as Daiwa’s intuitive Cast Lock, comes fitted as standard on the Windcast Z 5000. This isn’t even to mentioned the Twist Buster II technology, which both reduces the risk of line twist as well as reducing the friction between the line and roller – extending the life span of both. These features, paired with a digital gear design, make the Windcast Z a highly versatile reel which offers incredible speed and power.
The Windcast Z is also available in a Long Distance version (signified by LD after the size), which is a big capacity option for those anglers who bait beyond their standard casting range.
