The first thing you’re likely to notice when you pick up this DaiwaShogun Spinning Rod is the Union Jack that is emblazoned on the base of the blank. Considering the both the name of the rod (a shogun is a Japanese military commander) and the brand (Daiwa is perhaps the most recognisable Japanese brand on the market) this might be somewhat surprising. However, it is a little known fact that Daiwa’s largest manufacturing facility outside of the Far East is actually based in Whishaw, Scotland. This means that many of the rods that are on sale from UK retailers are actually made right here on our shores. Although their manufacture might be British many of the rod designs retain their Japanese heritage. This is where the Shogun Spinning Rod differs, as it is both designed and manufactured in the UK.
The technology at play in the rod is distinguishably Daiwa, however, and this is where the rod betrays its brand. The blank is constructed from high volume carbon. This is an ultra-dense carbon fibre that ensures that the rod isn’t only exceptionally strong but is also able to offer maximum power and fish playing sensitivity. In many ways HVF enables the perfect marriage between durability, power, and responsiveness. The joint system on the Shogun Spinning Rod is similarly high tech. Rather than a simple male-to-female joint, the Shogun Spin boasts Daiwa’s impressive V Joint. Constructed from Bias Carbon this joint mechanism ensures that there is no disruption of the rod profile, ensuring a pristine performance with each use.
The blank on the rod is furnished with Fuji K alconite guides, to allow for flawless linetransmission, and a Fuji reel seat, to maintain perfect reelposition. Designed for a huge variety of lure fishing techniques the Shogun Spinning Rod has three different rod lengths in the range. Across the lengths you’re able to cast lures between 7g and 50g, giving you a great variety to ensure your predator fishing sessions are always successful.
