Bayeswater Beauty For Callum Petchey...

We often recieve many great emails, catch reports and pictures from our customers and friends and we always try and respond to everyone.

One such email I recieved recently was a cracking little write up from young Callum Petchey, who wrote a detailed catch report on his latest session with his Dad at Bayeswater Lakes.

Here's what Callum had to say...

'I went to Bayeswater Lake with my dad on Friday afternoon and when I got there I was surprised to hear that before I arrived, he’d already had a 21lb 2oz mirror! This surprised me that he’d caught so quickly, as the lake was very busy, with only 3 swims free.

I set up in peg 9 with the wind blowing towards me; the lake was quiet fish wise, for all of Friday evening and Saturday day.

At 4:09pm Saturday I had a hesitant take on my right hand rod which was positioned just 50yards under the power lines running over the lake.

This hesitant take quickly turned into a screaming run and I was soon on the rod, once I lifted into the fish I knew it was a nice one! After a rather nervous 5 minute fight the fish was mine and safely in my net.

My dream of beating my previous PB (just shy of 20lb)had now started to become a reality, as I lifted the fish from the water and into my cradle I knew it was a big’un!

It tipped the scales at 23lb 4oz!! A new PB!! I was over the moon. Not only was it my second time on the lake, but I was the only person, along with my dad, to catch a fish from the lake in the 48 hour period we fished!

My successful tactics were a single boilie fished on a 6’ standard hair rig, fished over a bed of 6mm Halibut Pellets. It was even better as the boilies I was using were using was a new bait from a local company!'
