AD Quickbite - How To Tie The Perfect Maggot Rig – Carp Fishing

In this instalment of AD Quickbites, we focus on the perfect maggot rig; incorporating high visibility, colour variation and an added imitation bait to help combat unwanted species ruining your rigs presentation.

Here's the maggot rig step by step.

Step 1

You will need the following.

Step 2

Cut off 10 to 12 inches of the hook link and strip back 4 inches of the coating.

Step 3

Using your baiting needle thread the plastic corn onto the uncoated section of the braid.

Step 4

Tie the small hook onto the braid and into the corn.

Step 5

Tie the small rig ring onto the braid 5mm below the corn.

Step 6

Thread your hook onto the braid passing the rig ring over the hook and tie a simple knotless knot.

Step 7

Slide the kicker over the eye of the hook.

Step 8

Slide the anti tangle sleeve onto the hook link and tie a figure of eight loop.

Step 9

Hook 4-5 maggots onto the small hook before pulling the hook point into the corn.

Step 10

For the perfect presentation hook a small pva mesh bag of maggots onto the hook before casting.
