The catfish dumbell rig is a great summertime method for hooking catfish. It enables you to fish a fixed bait close to the surface, allowing you to fish this method on bite alarms throughout the night. This QuickBite video highlights how to tie the rig.
Step 1
You will need the following:
Catfish pro dumbell float
Catfish pro 80lb swivels
Catfish pro eagle wave hooks
Catfish pro bait shields
Catfish pro Catlink XT
Korda marker stem
Heavy lead 4oz+
Step 2
Thread your marker stem with the lead attached onto the mainline.
Step 3
Thread the dumbell float onto the mainline
Step 4
Now tie on a hook link made from the catlink XT, hooks and swivel. This hook link must be shorter than the dumbell float.
Step 5
Attach your chosen bait such as squid, lobworms or fish baits to the hook and hold the bait in place with a bait shield.
Step 6
Once the rig has been cast out pay line off the reel until the float appears on the surface.
