In this AD Quickbite we focus on one of the better winter baits, casters! If it's good enough for Terry Hearn, it's good enough for us – This Caster Rig has fooled the wariest of carp over the years, and it's just as effective today.
Here is the Terry Hearne caster rig step by step.
Step 1
You will need the following items of tackle.
Step 2
Cut off your desired length of hooklink material and strip back a short section of the outer coating.
Step 3
Attach your hook using the knotless knot and cover with a small length of shrink tube.
Step 4
Thread a rig sleeve onto the hooklink then tie a small figure of eight loop.
Step 5
Thread a ring swivel onto the hook followed by a hook bead.
Step 6
Steam the rig to shrink the tubing and straighten the hooklink.
Step 7
Secure a small disk of foam to the ring swivel using bait floss.
Step 8
Glue a small cluster of fake casters to the foam disk.
Step 9
Mould a small piece of putty to the middle of the hooklink. The rig is best fished over a scattering of real casters.
