AD Quickbite - How To Set Up The Lift Method

In this AD Quickbite Phil explains what tackle he prefers to use, including the nuts and bolts of the lift set-up. It’s easy to believe that you can only catch specimen fish on a bolt rig but for fish like crucians and tench, when they’re in the margins, the lift method is a really special way of fishing. A traditional technique that can be especially effective when the fish are feeding carefully.

Step 1

Push your float into the float adaptor then thread it onto your mainline with two float stops on either side.

Step 2

Tie a micro swivel onto your mainline to allow you to attach your hook length easily.

Step 3

Attach just enough weight to sink your float 3-4 inches from the hook.

Step 4

Use the split shot as if they were a plummet to find the exact depth.

Step 5

Most of the bites will be shown by the float lifting up in the water, although the float will still show standard bites if the fish have move off with the bait.
