AD Quickbite - How To Set Up A Running Rig For Carp

In this AD Quickbite we show you how to set up a running rig for carp. Often overlooked nowadays with the popular lead clip and helicopter setups being so effective. So why use a running rig?

Well bite indication is vastly improved. With a direct connection between the main line, rig and hook, any movement of the rig and hookbait results in indication back at the buzzer and bobbin. On many pressured waters, the carp will shake their heads violently once hooked, which often sees the hook thrown from the fish’s mouth. Where carp associate this head shaking with getting away with it, a running rig is a great option, as it completely confuses the hooked fish.

Items of tackle required.

Step 1

Using your latch needle thread the running rig kit down the leader.

Step 2

Attach the leader to your mainline with your chosen knot.

Step 3

Attach your hooklink to the quick-change swivel at the end of the leader.

Step 4

Attach the lead to the run ring and secure in place with the plastic peg provided.

Step 5

You are now ready to fish.
