JRC Stealth Bloxx Compact Bivvy
If you’re looking for a compact and quick to erect bivvy that still gives you acres of space inside then you need look no further. Following on from the success of the original Stealth Bloxx, JRC has released a brand new compact version of the bivvy: the JRC Stealth Bloxx Compact. Not only does this bivvy boast all the same great features as its bigger brother, it also features a number of enhancements to ensure that it excels on the bankside. This ensures that the Stealth Bloxx Compact is JRC’s best compact bivvy system to date.
Firstly, the JRC Stealth Bloxx Compact Bivvy is constructed from 100% nylon material, which is 210 denier. This ensures that the bivvy is supremely hard wearing and it resists heat-warping after a long summer of use. It is also extremely waterproof and it boasts a hydrostatic head rating of 10,000mm, ensuring that you’re protected against even the most torrential of downpours. However, hydrostatic head ratings are rarely the full story when it comes to waterproofing and, more often than not, anglers find themselves being let down by seam stitching in their bivvies. The thread for the seams is libable to make small holes in the fabric, compromising its waterproof rating. This is not the case with the JRC Stealth Bloxx Compact. With taped seams and rain baffles on the zipping points, this is one bivvy that is totally waterproof.
One of the biggest benefits of the original bivvy was the central block mechanism. This was an easy erection mechanism that almost operates like a brolly, with all seven of the bivvies ribs plugging into it. However, rather than the ribs meeting in the block inside the bivvy, the central clock mechanism is external. To erect the bivvy, you simply hold the front two ribs and pull them towards you. The remaining five ribs will pop into position, ready for you to peg everything down nice and neatly. This means that you don’t have to worry about wrestling with ribs to get them in the right position; the JRC Stealth Bloxx Compact makes bivvy erection look simple. In order to shed further pounds from this bivvy, JRC has redesigned the central black material and you’ll be happy to know that it is now significantly lighter than its original incarnation, whilst maintaining all the strength and durability that you require.
Another of the improvements that you’ll notice between this compact version and the original Stealth Bloxx is the tension system. The bivvy now comes with two storm poles, each 48 inches, as well as the user friendly tension system. This means that it is even quicker to set up than its older brother, allowing you to spend more time worrying about what really matters: your carp fishing success. This bivvy might be compact but it certainly doesn’t mean that you’ll be struggling for space. In fact, you’ll be amazed how much gear you can pack in, including your bedchair, all your luggage, any spares, and all the cooking gear you require.
It’s also a highly versatile outfit. If you’re just heading to the bank for a day session, you can leave the heavy duty groundsheet at home and roll back the front panel to create an open fronted day shelter. For nights in the summer, you can swap the solid green doors and windows for mozzie mesh vents. These are positioned on the front and rear of the bivvy, allowing cool air to flow through. In the winter, you can cover the bivvy in its dedicated wrap (available for purchase separately) and create a completely condensation free environment. The JRC Stealth Bloxx Compact really is one of the best compact bivvy systems on the market today.
